Ingredients for Funnel Cake with Salt and Chocolate Recipe

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 cup

  • Salt 2 teaspoons + a pinch

  • Dark chocolate chopped ½ cup

  • Milk 1 cup

  • Egg 1

  • Baking powder 2 teaspoons

  • Whisky 2 tablespoons

  • Fresh cream ½ cup

  • Butter 2 tablespoons

  • Oil for deep-frying


Step 1

Take milk in a bowl. Break egg into it. Add baking powder, whisky, 2 teaspoons salt and flour and whisk well to make a smooth batter.

Step 2

Heat cream in a non-stick pan. Add butter and mix. Add a pinch salt and bring the mixture to boil. Add chocolate and mix till it melts. This is chocolate sauce.

Step 3

Heat sufficient oil in a pan.

Step 4

Fill a squeezy bottle with the flour mixture.

Step 5

Squeeze the batter directly into hot oil in the shape of medium sized spiral discs and deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Fill a piping bag with chocolate sauce.

Step 7

Arrange funnel cakes overlapping each other on a serving platter, pipe out chocolate sauce on top and serve immediately.
