Ingredients list for Date & Walnut Cookies

  • 1/4 cup Dates chopped
  • 1/4 cup Walnuts chopped
  • 3/4 cup + to grease White butter
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Refined flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 2 Eggs
  • 50 millilitres Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
  • 2 teaspoons Chocolate chips


  1. Preheat the oven to 180° C
  2. Heat butter in a non-stick pan, add sugar and stir till both the butter and sugar melt and combine well.
  3. Sieve flour, baking soda and baking powder into a bowl.
  4. Transfer the sugar-butter mixture into a large mixing bowl, break in an egg in the bowl and add a 1 tbsp flour mixture, and mix well. Break in the remaining egg and repeat the process.
  5. Take walnuts and dates in another bowl, add a little flour mixture and mix.
  6. Add the remaining flour mixture to the sugar-butter-egg mixture and mix well. Add the walnuts and dates and mix well.
  7. Add milk and mix. Add vanilla essence, mix well to make a smooth lump free batter. Add chocolate chips and mix.
  8. Grease a baking dish with butter. Pour the prepared batter in this dish, keep it in the preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes.
  9. Take it out of the oven and cut into squares. Set aside to cool down to room temperature.
  10. Remove the pieces from the baking dish, arrange them on a serving plate and serve.
