Ingredients list for Dal with Drumsticks

  • 2-3 Drumsticks scraped and cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 2 cups Split pigeon pea (toor dal/arhar dal) pressure cooked with turmeric powder
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Green chillies chopped
  • 2-3 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • a pinch Asafoetida
  • ½ teaspoon Tamarind pulp
  • ½ cup Scraped coconut fresh

Method

  1. Put cooked pigeon peas in a non-stick pan, add drumsticks, onion, green chillies and coriander leaves and mix well. Add some water, mix and bring to boil. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-7 minutes.
  2. Add salt, asafoetida and tamarind pulp, mix and cook till drumsticks are fully done.
  3. Add coconut and mix well.
  4. Serve hot.
