Ingredients list for Chocolate Jumbles with Caramel
- ¼ cup Cocoa powder
- 2¾ cups Refined flour (maida)
- ½ cup brown sugar/jaggery
- 60 grams Butter
- 1 cup Golden syrup
- 1 Egg
- ½ teaspoon Soda bicarbonate
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon powder
- 1 teaspoon Nutmeg powder
- 2 teaspoons Dried ginger powder (soonth)
Method
- Heat together butter, brown sugar and ¾ cup golden syrup in a non-stick pan. Cook, stirring, for 4 minutes or till smooth. Transfer into a bowl and set aside for 10 minutes.
- Add egg. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, soda bicarbonate, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder and ginger powder into the bowl. Mix till well combined into a dough.
- Transfer the dough on a worktop and knead till sticky. Wrap in a cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 180° C. Line a baking tray with butter paper.
- Divide the dough into 6 x 2 cm thick logs and place them on the lined tray. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.
- Drizzle the remaining golden syrup over the logs and serve.
