Chicken Puff

Chicken strips cooked in spicy onion tomato masala stuffed into puff pastry dough and baked to perfection. This is a Sanjeev Kapoor exclusive recipe.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams boneless chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • Puff pastry dough as required 
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped 
  • Salt to taste 
  • 1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder 
  • 1 large tomato, finely chopped 
  • 2-3 tablespoons grated processed cheese + for topping 
  • Refined flour (maida) for dusting 
  • 1 egg, beaten 

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add onions and sauté till translucent. Add salt and mix.
  2. Add green chillies and chilli powder, mix and sauté for a minute. Add tomatoes, mix and cook till they turn soft and pulpy.
  3. Add chicken strips, mix and cook till fully done. Add cheese, mix and cook till it melts. Remove from heat and set aside to cool. 
  4. Preheat oven to 180̊ C. 
  5. Dust the worktop with some flour, place the dough on it and roll out into a large sheet. Cut into squares. 
  6. Place a spoonful of the cooked chicken in the centre of half the squares and top with some cheese. Cover with remaining squares, seal the edges and place on a baking tray. 
  7. Brush the puffs with beaten eggs, place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. 
  8. Serve hot.
