Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Chane aur Dhania ki Tikki Recipe

  • Sprouted Bengal Gram 1 cup

  • Breadcrumbs 1/4 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Oil for shallow frying


Step 1

Grind the sprouts, with a little water, in a grinder jar to a slightly coarse paste. Transfer into a bowl.

Step 2

Add salt, red chilli powder, chaat masala, cumin powder, garam masala powder and coriander leaves and mix well.

Step 3

Heat oil in a non-stick pan.

Step 4

Add breadcrumbs to the gram mixture and mix well. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into tikkis.

Step 5

Shallow-fry the tikkis, a few at a time, in hot oil till golden. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Serve hot.
