Ingredients list for Buttermilk Onion Rings
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 4 large Onion
- 3 Refined flour (maida)
- a pinch Baking soda (soda bicarbonate)
- to taste Salt
- to cook Crushed black peppercorns
- 1 tablespoon Fresh thyme chopped
- 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley chopped
- for deep-frying Oil
- Chaat masala for sprinkling
Method
- Mix refined flour, cornflour, baking soda, salt and crushed peppercorns in a bowl. Add buttermilk and whisk well to form a smooth thick batter. Add thyme and parsley and mix well.
- Cut onions into one centimeter thick slices and separate into rings.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Dip few onion rings at a time in the batter, slide into hot oil, and deep-fry in hot oil till light golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- Sprinkle chaat masala on top and serve hot.
