History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.

Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Besan ke Laddoo Recipe

  • Gram flour (besan) 2 cups

  • Ghee 1/2 cup

  • Green cardamom seeds , crushed 1/2 teaspoon

  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cashewnut powder 1 tablespoon

  • Almond powder 1 tablespoon

  • Sugar , powdered 1 cup

  • Raisins for garnish


Step 1

Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add green cardamom kernels and gram flour, mix and cook, stirring continuously, for 10-15 minutes or till fragrant. Remove the pan from heat, transfer into a bowl and stir continuously till it cools down to room temperature.

Step 2

Add cardamom powder, cashew powder, almond powder and powdered sugar to the gram flour mixture and mix gently.

Step 3

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into laddoos.

Step 4

Arrange them on a serving plate, garnish each laddoo with a raisin and serve.
