Ingredients list for Beetroot Wine
- 2 kilograms Beetroot peeled and cut into cubes
- 1 kilogram Sugar
- 6 Cloves
- 1 inch Ginger
- 2 Orange juice
- 4 tablespoons Lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon Yeast
- 1 Bread slices toasted
Method
- Soak the beetroot pieces in water for a couple of hours.
- Boil in 3 litres water along with the ginger and cloves till the beetroot is soft.
- Mash well and cool to room temperature.
- Strain and add the sugar, orange juice and lemon juice.
- When cold pour into a stone jar. Spread the yeast on the bread slice and allow it to float in the liquid.
- Keep the jar closed for 14 days. Strain the wine into another vessel.
- Let it stand for a week then strain way the sediments and bottle.
