History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Beetroot Wine Recipe

  • Beetroot peeled and cut into cubes 2 kilograms

  • Sugar 1 kilogram

  • Cloves 6

  • Ginger 1 inch

  • Orange juice 2

  • Lemon juice 4 tablespoons

  • Yeast 1/2 teaspoon

  • Bread slices toasted 1

Method

Step 1

Soak the beetroot pieces in water for a couple of hours.

Step 2

Boil in 3 litres water along with the ginger and cloves till the beetroot is soft.

Step 3

Mash well and cool to room temperature.

Step 4

Strain and add the sugar, orange juice and lemon juice.

Step 5

When cold pour into a stone jar. Spread the yeast on the bread slice and allow it to float in the liquid.

Step 6

Keep the jar closed for 14 days. Strain the wine into another vessel.

Step 7

Let it stand for a week then strain way the sediments and bottle.
