Bajra Nu Bachku

Bajri, dal and rice in a tasty khichdi preparation. Pearl millet mixture is tempered and cooked with buttermilk. This recipe has featured on the show Khanakhazana.

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup pearl millet (bajra)
  • 1/4 cup split green gram
  • 1/4 cup small grained rice (kanki)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tablespoon carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon green chilli paste
  • 8 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup ghee

Method

  1. Combine bajra, moong dal and rice and grind them coarsely. Transfer into a bowl.
  2. Add salt, carom seeds, ginger paste, green chilli paste, buttermilk and whisk to mix well. Transfer the mixture into a pan and cook, stirring continuously till it reaches a thick consistency.
  3. Dribble ghee from top and serve hot.
