French cuisine consists of cooking traditions and practices from France. At one time French cuisine was heavily influenced by Italian cuisine.  It was in the 17th century that some chefs led a movement that developed France’s own indigenous style by shifting it away from its foreign influences. French regional cuisine is characterized by its extreme diversity and style. Traditionally, each region of France has its own distinctive cuisine.

Ingredients for White Sauce Recipe

  • Refined Flour 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Butter 2 tablespoons

  • Onion 1 medium

  • Bay leaf 1

  • Cloves 2

  • Milk 1 1/2 cups

  • Nutmeg powder a pinch

  • Salt to taste

  • White pepper powder 1/4 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Take onion, wrap a bayleaf around it studding it with cloves at two ends. Place milk in a deep bowl, place the onion in that and boil on Microwave HIGH (100%) for two minutes.

Step 2

Remove onion and keep aside. Take butter and refined flour in a casserole and cook on Microwave HIGH (100%) for two minutes stirring once in between.

Step 3

Add milk, mix and cook further on Microwave MEDIUM (80%) for five minutes stirring once in between. Add nutmeg powder, salt and white pepper powder and stir.
