Ingredients 

  • 200 grams ladyfingers, halved
  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds, soaked for ½ hour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons mustard seeds
  • 3-4 green chillies
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander 
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder

Method

  1. Drain the poppy seeds and grind to a fine paste with sufficient water and transfer in a bowl. Make a paste of mustard seeds and green chillies and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add onion seeds and let it crackle.
  3. Add ladyfingers and cook for two minutes.
  4. Add turmeric powder, salt and sugar and cook for a minute. Add the green chillies and mustard paste, cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the poppy seeds paste, mix well. Cover it with a lid and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Once the gravy is thick, switch of the heat.
  7. Serve hot garnished with coriander.
