And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Shakkarkand Chaat Recipe

  • Sweet potatoes 6-8 medium

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic chopped 3-4 cloves

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1/4 cup

  • Fresh mint leaves chopped 1/4 cup

  • Black salt (kala namak) 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Lemon juice 2 tablespoons

  • Black peppercorns 1/2 teaspoon

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

Method

Step 1

Peel and cut sweet potatoes into half inch sized cubes. Dry roast cumin seeds and grind to a fine powder. Grind garlic, green chillies, coriander leaves and mint leaves to a fine paste.

Step 2

Mix together cooked sweet potato cubes, ground paste, roasted cumin powder, black salt, salt, crushed peppercorns, lemon juice and chopped onion. Toss well and serve at room temperature.
