Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Restaurant Style Yellow Gravy Recipe

  • Green Peas boiled 1 cup

  • Tomato Puree 2 tablespoons

  • Tomato puree 1 cup

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Onions 3 medium

  • Ginger-garlic paste 2 tablespoons

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 tablespoon

  • Cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Potatoes boiled and peeled 2 medium

  • Spring onion greens roughly chopped for garnishing

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan.

Step 2

Quarter onions and put into a chopper, finely chop them, add to the pan and sauté till brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and 1 tbsp water and mix well. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and red chilli powder and mix well.

Step 3

Add tomato puree, mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes. Add 3 cups water and mix well. Add salt.

Step 4

Mix together wheat flour and 3 tbsps water in a bowl till smooth and add to the pan. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Blend with a hand blender in the pan itself till smooth.

Step 5

Add green peas and mix well. Quarter potatoes, add and mix well. Simmer for a few minutes.

Step 6

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with spring onion greens and serve immediately.
