Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Potato Cheese Croquettes Recipe

  • Potatoes boiled and grated 4 medium

  • Processed cheese grated 1/2 cup

  • Onion finely chopped 1 small

  • Green chilli finely chopped 1

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Bread crumbs 1/2 cup

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 1/4 cup

  • Oil for deep-frying

Method

Step 1

Mix together potatoes, processed cheese, onion, green chilli, red chilli powder, salt, breadcrumbs and half the cornflour in a bowl.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into eight equal portions and roll into balls.

Step 3

Flatten the balls to form croquettes. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 4

Put the remaining cornflour in a plate.

Step 5

Roll the croquettes in it and deep fry, on medium heat, till golden brown in colour. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 6

Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
