Ingredients list for Picnic Chicken

  • 750 grams Chicken on the bone cut into 12 pieces
  • 4-5 Dried red chillies
  • 7-8 cloves Garlic
  • 1 1/2 inch pieces Ginger
  • 4 Stick Cinnamon
  • 6-8 Cloves
  • 2 Black cardamoms
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 2 medium Onions
  • 2 medium Potatoes
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder

Method

  1. Roughly chop onions, garlic and ginger and put into a mixer jar.
  2. Dry roast, cinnamon, cloves, black cardamoms, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds.
  3. Put red chillies in the mixer jar.Heat oil in a non stick pan. Slice potatoes into thin roundels and saute in the pan.
  4. Add the roasted spices to the mixer jar and grind everything to a smooth paste with a little water.
  5. Sprinkle a little salt, a pinch of turmeric power and red chilli powder over the potato slices. Cover and cook.
  6. Place chicken in a bowl, add salt and remaining turmeric powder and mix.
  7. Add this to the potatoes in the pan and mix well. Cover and cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes.Add the ground paste and mix. Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes. Serve hot.
