Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Prep Time : 11-15 minutes

Cook time : 26-30 minutes

Ingredients for Picnic Chicken Recipe

  • Chicken on the bone cut into 12 pieces 750 grams

  • Dried red chillies 4-5

  • Garlic 7-8 cloves

  • Ginger 1 1/2 inch pieces

  • Cinnamon 4 Stick

  • Cloves 6-8

  • Black cardamoms 2

  • Coriander seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) 1/4 teaspoon

  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Onions 2 medium

  • Potatoes 2 medium

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Roughly chop onions, garlic and ginger and put into a mixer jar.

Step 2

Dry roast, cinnamon, cloves, black cardamoms, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds.

Step 3

Put red chillies in the mixer jar.Heat oil in a non stick pan. Slice potatoes into thin roundels and saute in the pan.

Step 4

Add the roasted spices to the mixer jar and grind everything to a smooth paste with a little water.

Step 5

Sprinkle a little salt, a pinch of turmeric power and red chilli powder over the potato slices. Cover and cook.

Step 6

Place chicken in a bowl, add salt and remaining turmeric powder and mix.

Step 7

Add this to the potatoes in the pan and mix well. Cover and cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes.Add the ground paste and mix. Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes. Serve hot.
