Ingredients for Pethe ka Halwa Recipe

  • Ash Gourd 1 medium

  • Milk 3 cups

  • Sugar 3/4 cup

  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Cashewnuts roughly chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Mawa/khoya grated 3/4 cup

  • Ghee 2 tablespoons

  • Rose water 1 teaspoon

  • Fried cashewnuts 6-8


Step 1

Peel, quarter, remove seeds and grate the ash gourd and keep soaked in water.

Step 2

Heat a non-stick pan, squeeze the grated ash gourd to remove excess water and put into the pan. Add 2 cups milk and cook.

Step 3

Add sugar and mix well. Add green cardamom powder and mix. Add ½ cup milk more and continue to cook till all the milk gets absorbed.

Step 4

Add ½ cup milk more and cook stirring. Add mawa and mix.

Step 5

Add chopped cashewnuts and cook, stirring continuously.

Step 6

Add 2 tbsps ghee and cook till thick. Add rose water and mix.

Step 7

Serve hot garnished with fried cashewnuts.
