Ingredients list for Mithoo Dahi

  • 4 cups Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon Gelatin
  • 1 tablespoon Yogurt
  • a pinch Nutmeg powder
  • a pinch Green cardamom powder
  • a few drops Vanilla essence
  • a few strands Saffron (kesar)

  1. Heat milk in a thick-bottomed pan and bring to a boil. Add sugar, reduce heat and simmer for eight to ten minutes. Mix gelatine in one-fourth cup of warm water and stir till dissolved. Keep aside.
  2. Remove reduced milk from heat and allow to cool a little. Add gelatine and stir to mix well. Add yogurt, nutmeg powder, cardamom powder and vanilla essence and stir again while the milk is still warm.
  3. Transfer in a serving bowl or an earthenware pot, sprinkle saffron, do not stir and allow to set overnight. Serve chilled.
