Ingredients for Kulith Recipe

  • Horse gram (kulith) soaked and boiled with salt, red chilli powder and 1 1/2 cups

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon

  • Tomato puree 1/2 cup

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Chana masala 2 1/2 teaspoons

  • Horse gram stock 2 cups

  • Salt to taste

  • Ginger strips for garnishing

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add asafoetida and onion and sauté on high heat till onion turns light brown.

Step 2

Add tomato puree, mix well and cook for 2 minutes. Add red chilli powder and chana masala and mix well.

Step 3

Add horse gram stock and mix well. Add horse gram and mix. Add salt, mix well and bring the mixture to a boil.

Step 4

Mash a little with a hand blender, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot garnished with ginger strips.
