Ingredients list for Khus Khus Payasam

  • 1 cup Poppy Seeds soaked
  • 1/4 cup Milk soaked
  • 1/2 cups Scraped coconut
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Ghee
  • 4-6 Cashewnuts broken
  • 1/4 teaspoon Green cardamom powder

Method

  1. Grind poppy seeds, rice and coconut to a fine paste.
  2. Strain this paste through muslin cloth into a bowl.
  3. Heat milk in a non stick pan. Add sugar and mix well and simmer.
  4. Heat ghee in a small non stick pan, add cashewnuts and sauté lightly.
  5. When the milk starts boiling, add poppy seeds-rice-coconut milk.
  6. Add cardamom powder and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. When the payasam becomes thick, add fried cashewnuts along with ghee and mix well. Serve hot or cold.
