Ingredients for Jain Brownies Recipe

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 cup + for dusting

  • Cocoa powder ½ cup

  • Ghee for greasing

  • Salt a pinch

  • Walnuts chopped 4 tablespoons

  • Baking soda 1 teaspoon

  • Instant coffee powder ½ teaspoon

  • Buttermilk 1 cup

  • Melted butter ? cup

  • Vanilla essence ½ teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven at 180ºC. Grease an aluminum baking tin with ghee and dust with some refined flour.

Step 2

Sieve flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, powdered sugar and coffee powder in a bowl, one by one.

Step 3

Take buttermilk in another bowl. Add butter and whisk well. Add this mixture to the flour mixture along with vanilla essence and whisk well into a smooth batter. Add 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts and mix well.

Step 4

Pour the batter into the prepared tin and tap a little. Garnish with remaining walnuts.

Step 5

Put the tin the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.

Step 6

Remove from heat, cool and demould. Cut into wedges and serve warm.
