Fried Calamari

Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium squids, cleaned and cut into ½ cm rings
  • 1 cup refined flour
  • 1 cup cornflakes, powdered
  • 2-3 sprigs fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Black pepper powder to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Tartare sauce to serve

Method 

  1. Heat oil to deep fry.
  2. In a large bowl, add refined flour, cornflakes, thyme, paprika powder, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper powder and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the calamari and mix well to coat. Pass it through a sieve to dust off the excess flour.
  4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, deep fry squid rings till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Serve hot with tartare sauce.
