How to make Creamy Spinach Pizza -

Treasure house of vitamins and minerals, spinach must be included in the week's menu. The usage can be varied: chopped spinach leaves cooked with potatoes is a semi-wet vegetable with rotis, a few spinach leaves thrown in with mixed vegetables and turned into a soup is lovely on a cold winter night, chopped and blanched spinach makes a different sort of raita, spinach puree can be used in cutlets or kababs, the list goes on.

Ingredients for Creamy Spinach Pizza Recipe

  • Spinach leaves (palak) shredded 1 medium bunch

  • Mozzarella cheese grated as required

  • Dough for pizza as required

  • Butter 1 tablespoon

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Garlic chopped 2 tablespoon

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 tablespoon + for dusting

  • Milk 1 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Olive oil 1 tablespoon

  • Pine nuts(chilgoza) 2-3 tablespoons


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180° C.

Step 2

To prepare creamy spinach, heat butter in a non-stick pan. Add onion and sauté till translucent. Add 1 tablespoon garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.

Step 3

Add 1 tablespoon flour and sauté for 30 seconds. Add ½ cup milk, mix and cook for 1 minute. Add spinach leaves, mix and cook for 30 seconds. Add remaining milk, mix and cook till mixture thickens. Add salt and mix well.

Step 4

Divide the dough into 2 equal portions.

Step 5

Dust the worktop with some flour and roll out each portion into ½ cm thick sheet.

Step 6

Dust a baking tray with some flour, transfer the sheet on it and dork using a fork.

Step 7

Take remaining garlic in a bowl. Add olive oil and mix. Brush the mixture on top of the sheet.

Step 8

Put the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 5-8 minutes or till light golden. Remove from oven and spread some creamy spinach and mozzarella cheese on top. Sprinkle pine nuts and crushed peppercorns on top.

Step 9

Put the baking tray back into the preheated oven and bake till cheese melts.

Step 10

Cut into wedges and serve hot.
