During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Cinnamon Raisin Bran Muffins Recipe

  • Cinnamon Powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Raisins 2/3 cup

  • Wheat bran 1 cup

  • Whole wheat flour (atta) 1 cup

  • Baking powder 1 teaspoon

  • Soda bicarbonate 1 teaspoon

  • Brown sugar 3/4 cup

  • Butter 135 grams

  • Egg 1

  • Buttermilk 1 1/4 cups

  • Oil to grease

Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C/ 350°F/ Gas Mark 4. Grease muffin moulds. Sift whole wheat flour with baking powder and soda bicarbonate into a bowl. Add wheat bran and mix. In another bowl melt butter in the microwave.

Step 2

Break egg and whisk well Mix together melted butter, brown sugar and raisins well. Add whisked egg and mix. Add the flour mixture and cinnamon powder mix well. Add buttermilk and mix again.

Step 3

Transfer the mixture into the greased muffin moulds till two thirds full and bake in the preheated oven for twenty to twenty five minutes. Let it cool slightly before de-moulding.
