Ingredients for Beer Batter Fried Asparagus Recipe

  • Beer 1 tin

  • Asparagus 8 Stick

  • Oil to deep fry

  • Refined flour (maida) 3/4 cup

  • Cornflour/ corn starch 1/4 cup

  • Lemon zest 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns 1/4 teaspoon

  • Mayonnaise 1/2 cup

  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon


Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Take chilled flour in a bowl, add cornflour, ¼ tsp lemon zest, salt, a little crushed black peppercorns and sufficient beer and whisk to make a smooth batter of thick consistency.

Step 2

Dip asparagus in the batter and slide into hot oil. Deep fry on medium heat.

Step 3

Add a little of remaining lemon zest, crushed peppercorns, salt and lemon juice to mayonnaise and mix well.

Step 4

Drain asparagus when lightly browned, place on tissue paper; dab to remove excess oil.

Step 5

Sprinkle remaining lemon zest and crushed peppercorns and serve hot with mayonnaise dip.
