Ingredients list for Aloe Vera Rice Kheer

  • 1 Aloe vera
  • 3/4 cup Rice soaked
  • a pinch Turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 10-12 Cashewnuts
  • 5 cups Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • a few Saffron (kesar)

Method

  1. Cut the bottom portion of aloe vera and keep aside until the sticky juice is drained off. Remove the skin and cut into 1 inch cubes.
  2. Heat water in a deep non stick pan, add turmeric powder and aloe vera pieces. Boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Strain the aloe vera. Repeat this process 4 to 5 times
  3. Heat ghee in another non stick pan, add cashewnuts and sauté till golden. Add aloe vera pieces and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Drain and add rice and sauté. Add milk and cook, stirring continuously for 20 to 25 minutes.
  5. Add sugar, cardamom powder and saffron and stir till the sugar dissolves. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot or cold as desired.
