Ingredients
- 500 grams tamirind
- 400 grams jaggery, grated
- 1/2 cup mustard oil
- 1 teaspoon panch phoran roasted and powdered
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder (deghi mirch)
- 1 tablespoon raisins
Method
- Soak tamarind in half cup warm water, remove the pulp, strain and reserve. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add panch phoron powder and tamarind pulp and cook for few minutes.
- Add jaggery and cook till it melts, season it with salt, black pepper powder and roasted red chilli powder. Cook for two more minutes. Serve the chaatni garnished with raisins.
