Ingredients list for Shalgam ka Halwa

  • 4 medium Turnips peeled, grated and parboiled
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 1 tablespoon Cashewnuts chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Almonds chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Pistachios chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • Few strands of saffron
  • 2 tablespoons Sorghum flour (bajre ka atta)
  • 1 cup Grated jaggery

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a non-stick kadai, add cashewnuts, almonds and pistachios and sauté for a minute.
  2. Add turnips and sauté for 3-4 minutes. Add green cardamom powder, saffron and sorghum flour and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add jaggery and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring continuously, till all the jaggery dissolves.
  4. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve.
