Ingredients list for Quick Moong Dal Halwa
- 1 cup Moong dal
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 1/4 cup Ghee
- 1-2 tablespoons Full fat milk powder
- 2 tablespo for garnish Cashewnuts chopped
- 2 tablespo for garnish Almonds chopped
- 2 tablespo to garnish Pistachios blanchedand slivered
- Green cardamom powder for sprinkling
- Dried crushed rose petals for garnish
Method
- Heat a non-stick pan, add moong dal and dry roast till golden brown. Transfer it into a bowl and let it cool.
- Put the roasted dal in a mixer jar and grind to a coarse powder.
- Heat ghee in the same non-stick pan, add the dal powder, mix and sauté, stirring continuously, for 3-4 minutes. Meanwhile, heat 1 cup water in another pan and let it come to a boil.
- Add milk powder to the moong dal mixture and mix well. Add the boiling water, mix and cook stirring continuously till smooth .
- Add sugar and mix well. Add cashewnuts, almonds and pistachios and mix well.Cook, stirring continuously, for 10 minutes or till ghee separates. Take the pan off the heat.
- Pack the halwa tightly into a bowl and upturn it on a serving plate. Garnish with almonds, pistachios slivers and cashewnuts. Sprinkle green cardamom powder and crushed dried rose petals. Serve hot.
