By Sanjeev Kapoor 21 Sep 2015 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Rice Flour, Tamarind Pulp Cuisine Tamil Nadu Course Rice Prep Time 16-20 minutes Cook time 26-30 minutes Serve 4 Taste Tangy Level of Cooking Moderate Others Veg Ingredients list for Puli Satham 1 cup Rice Flour 3 tablespoons Tamarind Pulp 2 1/2 cups Water 2 Whole dry red chillies 1 large Onion 1 tablespoon Ghee 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) 1 teaspoon Tomato puree to taste Salt Method Bring the water to boil in a pan, meanwhile wash the rice thoroughly and drain. When the water starts to boil, add the rice and salt to taste. Cook for 10 –15 minutes or till the rice is done, drain off extra water if any. Put it back over the heat and cook for 3-5 minutes. Halve the dried red chillies and discard the seeds. Peel and chop the onion. Heat ghee in thick bottom pan and fry the onion till golden brown, then add mustard seeds. When they start to crackle add the chillies, the fenugreek seeds, the tamarind pulp and the tomato puree. Bring top boil and then stir in the cooked rice gently. Serve hot.
