Ingredients list for Pulao Khichdi
- 1 cup Rice soaked
- 1/4 cup Split green gram skinless (dhuli moong dal)
- 2 tablespoons Pure ghee
- 2 Bay leaves, torn
- 2-3 Cloves
- 6-8 large Cauliflower florets, cut into small pieces
- 1 1/2 medium Carrots, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 6 French beans, cut into 1 inch diamonds
- 1/4 cup Shelled green peas
- 2 Green chillies, slit
- to taste Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
Method
- Dry roast the moong dal in a non stick kadai till brown. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker.
- Add the bay leaves and cloves. Add the cauliflower, carrots and French beans and sauté till brownish in colour.
- Add the peas and mix well. Add the rice, green chillies, salt and turmeric powder. Mix well.
- Add the roasted dal and six cups of water.
- When the mixture comes to a boil, put the lid on and cook under pressure till pressure is released three to four times (three to four whistles).
- Serve hot.
