Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Potato Bravas Au Gratin-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Potatoes parboiled, peeled and thickly sliced 3-4

  • Butter 1 tablespo for greasing

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 tablespoon

  • Milk 1 cup + for drizzling

  • Processed cheese grated 2 tablespo to sprinkle

  • Salt to cook

  • Medium carrot blanched and cut into small pieces 1

  • Medium green capsicum cut into cubes 1/2

  • Medium red capsicum cut into cubes 1/2

  • Medium yellow capsicum cut into cubes 1/2

  • Medium broccoli blanched and separated into small florets 1/2

  • Parmesan cheese grated to sprinkle

  • Dried mixed herbs to sprinkle

Method

Step 1

Heat butter in a non-stick pan. Add flour, mix well and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 2

Add ½ cup milk, mix and cook till the mixture thickens. Add ½ cup milk and mix well.

Step 3

Add 2 tablespoons cheese and mix well till it melts. Add salt and mix well. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 4

Preheat oven to 180˚C. Grease a square aluminium baking tin with some butter.

Step 5

Arrange 6-7 potato slices in the greased tin. Top with some carrot, some green, red and yellow capsicum cubes and broccoli florets. Spread prepared cheese sauce on top, drizzle some milk.

Step 6

Arrange remaining potato slices, sprinkle some processed cheese, parmesan cheese and mixed herbs on top.

Step 7

Put the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes or till the cheese melts.

Step 8

Cut into squares and serve hot.
