Ingredients list for Pethe ka Halwa
- 1 Medium ash gourd (petha)
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
- 3 cups Milk
- 3/4 cup Mawa grated
- 2 tablespoons Cashewnuts roughly chopped
- 2 tablespoons Ghee
- 1 teaspoon Rose water
- 6-8 Fried cashewnuts
Method
- Peel, quarter, remove seeds and grate the ash gourd and keep it soaked in water.
- Heat a non-stick pan, squeeze the grated ash gourd to remove excess water and put into the pan.
- Add sugar and mix well. Add green cardamom powder and mix. Add 2 cups milk, mix well and continue to cook till most of the milk gets absorbed.
- Add remaining milk, nix and cook, stirring continuously. Add mawa and mix.
- Add cashewnuts and cook, stirring continuously.
- Drizzle ghee along the sides of the pan, mix and cook till thick. Add rose water and mix.
- Transfer into a serving dish, garnish with fried cashewnuts and serve hot.
