Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Ingredients for Pepper Chole-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Black peppercorns crushed 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Chickpeas (chole) boiled 1 1/2 cups

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Ginger chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic finely chopped 1/2 tablespoon

  • Medium onion sliced 1

  • Tomato puree 1 cup

  • Oyster sauce 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Spring onion greens sliced for garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add ginger and garlic, mix and sauté well.

Step 2

Add onion, mix and sauté till they are lightly browned. Add 1½ tablespoons crushed peppercorns and mix well.

Step 3

Add tomato puree, mix and cook for a minute. Add oyster sauce, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.

Step 4

Add salt and mix. Add little water and mix. Add chickpeas, mix well and let them get heated through.

Step 5

Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
