Ingredients
- 300 grams refined flour (maida) + as required
- 120 grams castor sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 15 grams butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 190 grams sour cream
- 7.5 grams baking powder
- 6 grams salt
- Oil for deep-frying
- ½ cup melted white chocolate
- ½ cup melted dark chocolate
Method
- Put castor sugar in a bowl. Add yolks, butter and vanilla essence and whisk using an electric beater till light. Add sour cream and whisk well.
- Sieve together flour, baking powder and salt and fold till the dough is formed.
- Line the worktop with a cling film, place the dough, lightly flatten and wrap it. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Dust the worktop with some flour and roll out the dough into ½ inch thick sheet.
- Coat a medium size cookie cutter with some flour and cut the sheet into roundels.
- Cut the center of each roundel using a small cookie cutter to shape them into donuts.
- Dust the excess flour from the donuts, put in hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper and slightly cool.
- Dip one side of each donut in melted white chocolate and melted dark chocolate to make different patterns.
- Serve.
