Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Mozzarella Sticks Recipe

  • Mozzarella cheese , cut into thick fingers 400 grams

  • Oil to deep fry

  • Refined flour (maida) 1/2 cup

  • Onion powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns , crushed to taste

  • Cornflakes , crushed 1/2 cup

  • Panko breadcrumbs 1/2 cup

  • Fresh mixed herbs , chopped 1 teaspoon

  • Eggs 2

  • Tomato ketchup to serve


Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 2

Mix together refined flour, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and crushed peppercorns on a plate.

Step 3

Mix together cornflakes, panko breadcrumbs, fresh mixed herbs, salt and crushed peppercorns on another plate.

Step 4

Break eggs into a bowl, add salt and crushed peppercorns and beat well.

Step 5

Coat mozzarella fingers in flour mixture, dip in beaten egg mixture, coat with cornflakes mixture and keep on a plate.

Step 6

Gently slide the mozzarella fingers into hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 7

Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
