How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Prep Time : 6-10 minutes

Cook time : 11-15 minutes

Serve : 4

Ingredients for Microwave Masale Bhat Recipe

  • Rice 1 cup

  • Goda masala 2 teaspoons

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder a pinch

  • Asafoetida a pinch

  • Potato chopped 1 medium

  • Green peas 1/4 cup

  • Oil 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped for garnish

  • Coconut scraped for garnish

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds, turmeric powder and hing and saute for a minute.

Step 2

Add chopped potatoes, green peas, godha masala and rice and saute for a minute.

Step 3

Put the mixture in a microwave bowl and cook in the microwave on HIGH for fifteen minutes.Serve hot garnished with coriander and coconut.
