Ingredients list for Kurmure ka Upma

  • 3 cups Puffed rice (kurmura / murmura)
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/4 cup Peanuts roasted
  • 1 Medium onion finely chopped
  • 10-12 Curry leaves
  • 1/4 cup Carrot grated
  • 1 Medium green capsicum finely chopped
  • 2-3 Green chillies
  • 1 tablespoon Rasam powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 Lemon


  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add peanuts and onion and sauté till the onion turns translucent. Add curry leaves and carrot and mix well. Add capsicum and mix well.
  2. Place a strainer over a bowl, put the puffed rice into the strainer and pour over it so they become moist.
  3. Finely chop green chillies and add. Add rasam powder and mix well. Add puffed rice and mix well. Add salt and mix well. Squeeze the juice of ½ lemon and add and mix well.
  4. Transfer onto a serving plate and serve hot.
