Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups horse gram (kulith), soaked and boiled with salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
- 1/2 cup tomato puree
- 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 2 1/2 teaspoons chana masala
- 2 cups horse gram stock
- Salt to taste
- Ginger strips for garnishing
Method
- Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add asafoetida and onion and sauté on high heat till onion turns light brown.
- Add tomato puree, mix well and cook for 2 minutes. Add red chilli powder and chana masala and mix well.
- Add horse gram stock and mix well. Add horse gram and mix. Add salt, mix well and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Mash a little with a hand blender, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot garnished with ginger strips.
