Ingredients list for Dalia Kheer

  • 5 tablespoons Broken wheat (dalia)
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee
  • 8-10 Cashewnuts , broken
  • 2 1/2 cups Milk
  • 3 tablespoons Jaggery powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • a pinch Nutmeg powder

Method

  1. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cashewnuts and saute till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.
  2. Add broken wheat to the ghee remaining in the cooker and sauté on medium heat for 1 minute. Add milk, jaggery powder, green cardamom powder and nutmeg powder and mix well.
  3. Add half of fried cashewnuts, cover and pressure cook on high heat for 5-6 minutes.
  4. Open the cooker when the pressure settles, transfer the kheer into a serving bowl, garnish with the remaining fried cashewnuts and serve hot.
