Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Dahiwale Amrud Recipe

  • Yogurt whisked 1/2

  • Guavas 4 medium

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fennel seeds (saunf) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Salt to taste

  • Garam masala powder 1/4 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Remove the seeds and cut the guavas into small pieces. Heat the oil in a non stick kadai; add the asafoetida, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and guavas and stir to mix.

Step 2

Add the red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and green chillies. Mix well.

Step 3

Add the whisked yogurt, salt and garam masala powder and stir to mix.

Step 4

Cook on medium heat for three to four minutes. Serve hot.
