Ingredients list for Chocolate and Walnut Cake
- ? cup Cocoa powder
- ? cup Walnuts chopped
- for dusting Refined flour (maida) 1½ cups + 1 tablespoon
- 1½ teaspoons Baking powder
- for greasing Butter 1½ cups +
- 1½ cups Castor sugar (caster sugar)
- 3 Eggs
- a few drops Vanilla essence
- 2 tablespoons Milk
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- ? cup Chocolate chips
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease an eight-inch round cake tin with the butter.
- Sift the refined flour and baking powder together. Set aside.
- Cream the butter and sugar together till light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one by one, beating well till the mixture becomes light. Add the vanilla essence and mix well.
- Fold in the refined flour, adding it in batches. Add the milk and mix well.
- Mix the cocoa powder and oil together to make a smooth paste.
- Dust the chocolate chips and the walnuts with one tablespoon of flour.
- Add the cocoa powder paste, chocolate chips-walnuts to the batter and fold.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin.
- Bake in the preheated oven for fifty to fifty-five minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.
- Cut into slices and serve.
