Ingredients 

  • 6 raw mangoes
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon kashmiri red chilli powder

Method

  1. Peel and grate mangoes in a bowl. Add salt and mix and set aside for 2 hours.
  2. Add turmeric powder and sugar and mix well. Cover tightly with a muslin cloth and keep in the sun for 7 days or till one string consistency is formed. Keep mixing every day.
  3. Dry roast cumin seeds till fragrant. Grind to a coarse powder, add to the mangoes along with red chilli powder and mix well. Cover tightly with a muslin cloth and keep in the sun for 1 day.
  4. Serve or store in airtight container.
