Ingredients for Caramelized Onion and Cheese Tart Recipe

  • Medium onions sliced 2

  • Processed cheese grated as required

  • White bread slices edges trimmed, cut into 4 squares each and toasted 4

  • Butter 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Pinenuts toasted 2 tablespoons

  • Black peppercorns cruhsed to taste

  • Fresh parsley to garnish


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180˚ C.

Step 2

Heat butter in a non-stick pan, add onions and salt, mix and sauté till translucent. Add sugar and sauté till onion caramelises.

Step 3

Add pine nuts and crushed black peppercorns and mix well.

Step 4

Place toasted bread squares on a baking tray, spread some caramelised onion mixture on them and top with some cheese.

Step 5

Keep the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes.

Step 6

Remove from oven. Garnish each tart with some parsley. Arrange them on a tray and serve immediately.
