Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Butter Chakli-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Butter 1 tablespoon

  • Semolina (rawa/suji) 3/4 cup

  • Rice flour 1 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon

  • Oil for greasi to deep fry


Step 1

Heat 1 cup water in a non-stick pan. Add salt, cumin seeds and butter and mix till butter melts.

Step 2

Add semolina, mix well and cook till mixture thickens. Transfer into a bowl and let it cool.

Step 3

Add rice flour and mix. Add 1 cup water and knead to a stiff dough.

Step 4

Grease a chakli press with some oil and put a portion of dough in it. Press to form chaklis and keep them on butter paper.

Step 5

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep-fry chaklis till light golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
