Ingredients
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- ¼ cup yogurt
- 1 ripe yellow banana, unpeeled
- 1 cup refined flour (maida) + for dusting
- 3 tablespoons warm ghee
- A pinch of salt
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- Oil to deep fry
Method
- Add powder sugar and yogurt in a bowl. Combine with a whisk until the mixture turns creamy. Add banana and mash it. Combine well. Add refined flour, warm ghee, salt, baking powder, cumin powder. Mix well. Knead into medium soft dough. Cover with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for 2 hours.
- Divide dough into equal portions and take a portion on a worktop, dust with flour and roll into medium thick discs with a rolling pin.
- Heat sufficient oil in a non-stick kadai, slide in the disc one at a time and deep fry on medium heat till the puri turns golden brown in colour and it puffs up. Drain on an absorbent paper.
- Transfer puris in a serving bread basket.
- Serve hot.
