Ingredients
- 1 medium apple
- 4 pork sausages
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder
- 1½ teaspoons maple syrup
- 4 tablespoons refined flour (maida)
- ¼ cup cornflour/ corn starch
- ½ cup cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- Oil for deep-frying
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons mustard sauce
- ¼ teaspoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
Method
- Peel, deseed, and finely chop the apple and place it in a bowl.
- Roughly chop the sausages and add to the bowl. Add salt, baking soda, cinnamon powder, maple syrup, refined flour, cornflour, cheddar cheese, a little water and mix well.
- Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions shaped into medium-sized balls or fritters. Refrigerate the balls for 15 minutes.
- Spread breadcrumbs on a plate. Coat the balls in the breadcrumbs and dust off the excess.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep-fry the balls till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
- To make mayo-mustard dip, combine mayonnaise and mustard sauce in a bowl. Mix well.
- Garnish fritters with parsley and serve hot with mayo-mustard dip.
