Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Aloo Tuk Recipe

  • Baby Potatoes 12

  • Red Chilli Powder for deep-frying

  • Chaat masala 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Dry mango powder (amchur) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Clean potatoes well. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai on medium heat.

Step 2

Prick potatoes with a fork and slide into the oil and deep fry.

Step 3

Place chaat masala, red chilli powder, dried mango powder, coriander powder and salt in a small bowl and mix well.

Step 4

When the potatoes are cooked, drain them on tissue paper.

Step 5

Press lightly with the back of a spoon.

Step 6

Heat oil again and fry potatoes again till crisp and golden.

Step 7

Drain on tissue paper. Place potatoes in a bowl, sprinkle the masala mixture and toss. Serve immediately.
