Be a kid or a teenage or an adult or an oldie, chicken lovers trend all over the world at all times! One meat that is a favourite of all beyond belief! When cooked, it can be presented in many guises. Sauté it, fry it, toss it, bake it, steam it – eat it the way you want to. Whatever its form may be upon being cooked, its flavour may change but its flesh remains high in protein, low in fat and can be digested easily.

Ingredients for 5 Spice Chicken Skewers with Chilli Soy Sauce Recipe

  • Boneless chicken breasts 3

  • Chilli sauce 3 tablespoons

  • 5 spice powder 1 tablespoon

  • Soy sauce 2 teaspoons + 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Crushed black peppercorns ½ cup

  • Yogurt ¼ cup

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Sesame seeds (til) 2 tablespoons + for garnishing

  • Fresh coriander sprigs a few for garnishing

Method

Step 1

Cut chicken breasts lengthwise into one by three.

Step 2

Combine 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon chilli sauce, 5 spice powder, salt, crushed peppercorns and yogurt in a bowl and mix well.

Step 3

Put chicken pieces in the yogurt mixture, mix well and set aside to marinate for an hour.

Step 4

Skewer marinated chicken pieces onto bamboo skewers.

Step 5

Heat oil in a non-stick pan.

Step 6

Top the chicken skewers with 2 tablespoons sesame seeds and place them on the pan. Cook, rotating the skewers, till the chicken is fully done all around.

Step 7

To make sauce, combine remaining chilli sauce and remaining soy sauce in a bowl and mix well.

Step 8

Garnish chicken with sesame seeds and coriander sprigs and serve hot with chilli-soysauce.
