During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Vegetarian Toasted Sandwich Recipe

  • Bread 4 slices

  • Butter 2 tablespoons

  • Potatoes boiled, peeled and grated 2-3 medium

  • Onions chopped 1 medium

  • Carrot chopped 1

  • French beans chopped 6-8

  • Cauliflower chopped 4-5 florets

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Pomegranate seeds (anardana) crushed 1 teaspoon

  • Cheese grated 2 tablespoons


Step 1

Boil the potatoes. Cool, peel and grate them. Boil the vegetables. Drain and leave them aside.

Step 2

In a bowl take the potatoes and add onion and boiled vegetables.

Step 3

Add salt, red chilli powder and pomegranate seeds and mix well.

Step 4

Spread some of the mixture on one bread slice and cover with another slice.
